Just us?) every Monday from here on out. It couldn’t be any easier!

Every Tuesday, you’ll visit Bach Fantasy to see how your contestants are faring and read a snark-filled recap. Click here to visit our new blog and find out more!

Hola, amigos. Do you know what month it is? It’s Juan-uary! Time for Venezuela’s hunkiest bachelor to worm his way into our corazones and some ladies’ pantalones, as Season 18 of “The Bachelor” kicks off January 5, 2014 on ABC. Si, senoritas, es verdad.

bachelor

I’ve been getting an uptick in blog traffic the past couple of weeks from people searching Google for “Bachelorette Fantasy League” and landing on last year’s post. I thought it was high time I share the updates to the league for Juan Pablo’s season so y’all can get your teams organized.

The Draft

In an exciting turn of events, we’re opting for a virtual LIVE DRAFT this year, folks. Because our league is spread across four time zones, we’re abiding by the honor code. Each gal will watch limo introductions but hit pause before the real shenanigans begin. Then, each team owner will email me her top five contestants (which may include such luminaries as Amy L., whose favorite author is Dr. Seuss, and Lucy, who claims she’s best friends with Kate Upton).

You can also draft your teams ahead of time based solely off the information in the contestants’ bios. It’s a real treasure trove, I promise.

New Points Categories

This season, we’re changing up the points categories a bit. You’ll be rewarded for drafting bold contestants but more so for drafting contestants who go the distance.

Like last year, points are divided into Phrases, Actions, and Roses.

Want to see all the categories? Visit Bach Fantasy—where we do all the point-keeping for you!—to read them.

Points-Keeping

Last year, I kept track points by my lonesome in a spreadsheet. There was a lot of DVR-pausing and wondering aloud, “Does that count as a make-out session?!”

This year, we’re doing you all a solid: we actually created a WHOLE SEPARATE BLOG devoted to Bach Fantasy, in which we will do the gruntwork of tallying points.

All you have to do is gather up your friends, draft a team, and then drink lots of wine and make wisecracks at your TV (No? Just us?) every Monday from here on out. It couldn’t be any easier!

Then, every Tuesday, visit Bach Fantasy to see how your contestants are faring and read a snark-filled recap.

May the odds be ever in your favor. Here’s hoping for a season full of helicopter rides, secret boyfriends, and ugly crying!

  1. I am SO SO very thankful to you Miss Commissioner for keeping track of all of this! I can barely keep track of all the girls’ names. Excited to make my pics this coming Monday! (BTW Did you know there’s an episode on SUNDAY? (Bachelorette is going to take up far too much of my time).

    • I’m so exciteddddd for this season, Mito! JUAN-UARY begins!

      • Hi Jorie! Thanks so much for doing this. My lady friends and I would like to participate. Is it too late after the first episode has aired? I tried clicking on the link that takes me to the entire seperate blog for the draft but it said the website couldn’t be found. How do we sign up and make our picks?

  2. Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this! My girlfriends and I are so excited. I am going to try to head up the league but this is our first time doing it. I have a few questions if you wouldn’t mind helping me out.

    - is the a max of how many girls can play?

    - how does it work if some more than one girl choose the same contestant?

    Thanks again so much!
    Happy Juan-uary.

    • Hi Kaylin!

I’m so excited FOR you. Bach fantasy leagues rarely disappoint :) Our league is currently 8 girls. You could probably do up to 12 or 14, it’d just be a matter of you (the Commissioner) doing a bit more legwork with the scoring.

Last year, I was worried that we were going to have all the same contestants but that totally didn’t happen. In fact, no one had the exact same team — although with more players in the league, you run a higher risk of two or more people having a very similar team. Last year, we drafted based on the bios alone, so it was much harder to tell who was a wild card/creepster and who was a dreamboat, thus we had a huge spread of contestants. Another thing to keep in mind is that the points system does reward bold (read: crazy) contestants, so long as they stick around. That means people often draft some of the kookier contestants.

Best of luck, Kaylin! Hope you have a great season.

    • Hi Kaylin! I also wanted to let you know that my friend and I have created a Bach Fantasy League blog where we’ll keep track of the points—so you and your friends can simply draft your teams and check in every Tuesday to see how they’re doing. Here’s the link: http://www.bachfantasy.wordpress.com

      • Yay! Thanks so much. This is going to be Juan heck of a season!

(I just can’t use Juan puns enough!)

        Cheers,
        Kaylin

  3. This is awesome!! Just to confirm, we have to keep track of all the points from what the girls do ourselves? I can add up the team scores but watching and keeping track of what each of the girls do does seem a little daunting. :) Wasn’t sure if you’d be providing the girls’ individual total point values through the season.

    • Hi Ashley!

I totally know what you mean about the score-keeping. I originally posted this as just a how-to, but I’ve gotten a lot of interest and traffic, so a friend and I are thinking about creating a totally separate blog for points-tracking, so other leagues can follow along. I’ll send you the link later tonight!

    • Hey Ashley! We’ve officially created a Bach Fantasy League blog where we’ll keep track of the points—so you and your friends can simply draft your teams and check in every Tuesday to see how they’re doing. Here’s the link: http://www.bachfantasy.wordpress.com. Thanks!

  4. That’s it. You win most dedicated and creative fantasy league commissioner in all the land. We are so lucky to have you.
